Stained glass windows in the chapel of the Domus Mariae in Gietrzwałd. The stained glass window depicts the image of Our Lady of Gietrzwałd. In 1877 Gietrzwałd was the site of an apparition – the figure of Mary appeared on a maple tree. When the tree collapsed in a storm, a cross was fashioned from its remains and placed in the chapel. This place has become a destination for numerous pilgrimages. The stained glass window depicts the famous tree.
