This window depicts the tough early years of the Christianity in Japan. The persecutions of christians were extremely cruel at the time. The figures depicted in the stained glass windows are only one among many victims. Thousands of Christians were killed in very vicious way. They were burned alive, beheaded or crucified.
The lower window depicts the portraits of the martyrs. In the foreground there is Adam Arakawa (1614). On the left is sitting Leon Saisho from Kagoshima (1608), on the right is Sishiemon Abutomo. Behind them is Genka Gaspar with his family (1609). On the upper right part - martyrs from Hiroshima and Yamaguchi - Jintaro Toyama i Motonao Kumagaya, Mondo Joan Hara (1623) from Edo.
